Define the purpose

• Decide what belongs in the system and what does not.

• Create one trusted inbox.
• Lower capture-friction with mobile-capture, web-clipping, and voice-notes.
• Decide how often you will do inbox-processing.

Choose organization

• Use zettelkasten patterns if you need idea development and writing.
• Use tags only with a clear tagging-strategy.
• Keep archives out of active work.

Build review habits

• Schedule a lightweight weekly-review.
• Add note-refactoring when notes become useful enough to improve.
• Use monthly-review for direction and patterns.
